Wine, raclette, apricots - come and discover the pleasures of Valaisan gastronomy at the Château de Villa in Sierre. The wine shop and the restaurant will serve you carefully-selected food and wine from local producers.

Our package includes

  • a wine tasting at the Château de Villa’s wine shop
  • a typical Valaisan meal at the restaurant in the Château de Villa
  • a visit to the Wine Museum in Sierre and/or Salgesch
  • one night at the 3-star Hôtel de la Poste in Sierre, with breakfast

Discovering the Valais’ specialities

Spend a day or a weekend discovering the Valais’ specialities. Meals and wine tastings can be arranged for lunch or dinner time.
Raclette, dried meat, rye bread and Valaisan wines await you in the unique setting of the Château de Villa, a splendid 16th-century castle.
The wine tasting takes place at the Château de Villa’s wine shop. You will be given a voucher for CHF 18 per person, enabling you to taste 4 or 5 wines by the glass, including the “welcome” drink offered on arrival (Fendant, Pinot, Gamay, Dôle or locally-produced fruit juice).

The Wine Museum

Located in the heart of Valais, The Wine Museum looks back over the history of this exceptional mountain wine-producing culture, inspired by tradition and passion.

The Wine Museum has two sites: a permanent exhibition at the centre in the Maison Zumofen in Salgesch and  a centre for temporary exhibitions immediately adjacent to the Château de Villa in Sierre. The Wine Trail links the two sites, crossing a vine-clad landscape and revealing the beauty and working life of the vineyards in all seasons. 

At the Château de Villa 

A choice of 640 wines and the knowledge of over 100 wine-makers are brought together in this very special cellar. Each week, visitors can taste a selection of 8 wines (by the glass) from 4 different wine-growers, and then buy a bottle or two to take home.
The Valaisan meal consists entirely of local produce: an assiette valaisanne (which includes dried products such as dried meat, cured ham, and seasoned dried pork), samples of 5 raclette cheeses from 5 different parts of the Valais, then a sorbet flavoured with apricot brandy.

To prolong your enjoyment, book a night at the 3-star Hôtel de la Poste, a delightful hotel in the centre of Sierre that was completely refurbished in 2007.
